It’s with a heavy heart to report that our friend Etika, prominent YouTuber/twitcher and Team1upem supporter has passed away. Etika had been dealing with some serious mental issues and sadly he succumbed to his illness and took his own life. Instead of dwelling on the sadness of this situation, perhaps we can turn it into a learning expierience and take a moment to appreciate our loved ones and friends and reach out to someone who may need help and is dealing with pain. Thanks for the memories, R.I.P. Etika.
Analogue, the company behind the Analogue NT and Super NT, premium Nintendo console maker running on FPGA hardware has released news that theyre now going the Sega route and I personally couldnt be happier! Finally Sega lovers rejoice. Here’s what I know so far, The Mega SG by Analogue will play US Sega Genesis Games, European and Japanese Mega Drive games. Video output will be via HDMI in 720p or 1080p not exactly sure yet but one of those. There will be cartridge adapters so you can play other legacy consoles such as SG-1000, SC-3000, Mark III and Game Gear and those are speculated to retail for $10 a piece (F you Polymega) but its rumored that Master System Adapter will come packed in. The Mega SG will retail for $189 and will come in 4 colorways, classic Genesis (Red, Grey, Black), classic MD (black, blue, red), model 2 (grey and black) and all new white! They look really good! Sega CD compatibility is a go, 32x looks like it might be out of the question at the moment due to the daisy chaining of video output, I wouldnt count it out completely but as of right now its a no go but Analogue is working on it.

Bob Wakelin legendary video game artist has passed away. Video game artists don’t get the spotlight they deserve but their art is truly timeless. As you may or may not know CES went down recently and Hyperkin got a ton of press on their Ultra Gameboy which we covered. Something that went under the radar was this little guy, Mega RetroN HD confirmed by Hyperkin on Facebook with a unknown release date.
They also confirmed that the Mega RetroN HD will not be emulation but pure hardware baby! So that means the sound should be close to, if not spot on. I assume that also means better compatibility.
@classicgameroom announced on Twitter today that it would be producing 2 new shows for Amazon! That’s pretty awesome. You can already enjoy Classic Game Room via Amazon Prime so this is a welcomed announcement. We look forward to see what’s coming in the future.
CES has been going down all week and one of the head turners was the Ultra Gameboy by Hyperkin. Hyperkin is hoping to resurrect the Gameboy in 2018 with a price tage of 100 dollars or less. While the design looks pretty nice and it boasts some interesting features such as backlight lit black and white screen a 6 hour lithium battery that charges with a USB-C cable, stereo speakers which is odd because Gameboy games only output mono sound but this is apparently for the audiophiles that make chiptunes with their Gameboy. I’m not too impressed by this considering I can buy an SP or DS for 20 bucks any day of the week and those are in color! EIther way an interesting device that has us interested.

The countdown to the Ataribox launch on Indiegogo has been officially paused. Because of one key element on our checklist, it is taking more time to create the platform and ecosystem the Atari community deserves. Building Ataribox is incredibly important to us and we will do whatever it takes to be sure it is worth the wait.
An updated launch plan is underway and more detailed information will be available soon.

Has Hyperkin the company that brought us the Retron 5 and the Supaboy been working silently behind the scenese creating a portable N64? Possibly. Facebook user Ramon Navos-Moral leaked these interesting images to his FB/IG account today claiming he was at Hyperkin and snuck these photos of this pretty nice looking N64 Portable Prototype. Who knows what the truth is but we can only hope something like this is on the horizon. I still want to get one of those gameboy things for my Galaxy theyre under 40 bucks now tempting… Anyways what do you guys think of this thing?
